CT Scan (Computed Tomography)

A CT scan uses X-rays to create detailed cross-sectional images of your body. It helps diagnose and monitor various conditions, including cancers, infections, and organ injuries. It is particularly useful for detecting abnormalities in the abdomen, chest, and pelvis.

What to Expect

Preparation
You might need to fast and avoid certain medications. Sometimes, you’ll drink a contrast solution or receive an IV contrast injection.
During the Test
You’ll lie on a table that moves through a large, donut-shaped scanner. The scan is quick and painless, usually taking about 10-30 minutes.
After the Test
You can usually resume normal activities right away.

MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging)

An MRI uses magnetic fields and radio waves to produce detailed images of your organs and tissues. It’s particularly useful for soft tissue evaluation and is often used to diagnose conditions affecting the brain, spine, joints, and organs.

What to Expect

Preparation
You may need to remove metal objects and avoid eating or drinking for a few hours.
During the Test
You’ll lie on a table that slides into a large tube-shaped scanner. The test is painless but can be noisy, and it may take 30-60 minutes.
After the Test
You can resume normal activities immediately.
